Hotel Information: The Westin St. John Resort and Villas is a 47-acre, campus-style resort with spacious lawns, forested hillsides, and tropical gardens, and views of turquoise Great Cruz Bay sheltered on both sides by more green hills. The resort attracts active families and celebrating couples.
Amenity highlights: A 1,200-foot beach provides entry into calm Great Cruz Bay, where there are "iceberg" slides and trampoline rafts. The main pool complex adjoins the beach and includes two spa tubs. Isolated on a hillside in the villa section are two pools with decks for quiet relaxing. The resort supplies complimentary nonmotorized water-sports equipment. Snorkeling gear, motorized water sports, and scuba/snorkeling excursions are available for surcharges.
Insider tip: Although the National Park Service's snorkeling trail at Trunk Bay attracts lots of visitors, experienced St. John snorkelers head to less populated spots such as Waterlemon Cay on the north shore. Reaching the site from a parking lot requires a mile hike on loose rocks, so shoes or hiking sandals are recommended.
Property Amenities
A spa offers treatments such as sea-mud wraps and massages such as LaStone (hot basalt stones/chilled marble stones) as well as waxing and nail care. A complimentary fitness center contains cardio machines with plasma TVs, weight machines, and free weights.

Room Descriptions
The Westin St. John offers 282 guestrooms in 13 two- and three-story buildings (no elevators) arrayed around the pool complex and on a forested hillside about 150 yards from the beach. The resort also offers 60 studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom villas in eight two-story buildings on forested hillsides about 200-300 yards from the beach. Buildings' khaki-colored masonry and cedar-shingle roofs and accents blends into the natural setting.
Both rooms and villas feature Westin's signature Heavenly Beds and Heavenly Baths. Heavenly Beds consist of custom-designed, foot-thick, pillowtop mattresses; all-white bedding; triple sheeting; tropical-weight comforters; and multiple pillows. Heavenly Baths include shower/tub combinations with curved curtain rods for extra elbow room and one or two massage showerheads, oversized bath sheets, and bathrobes.
Complimentary high-speed Internet connections are available in both rooms and villas.

Getting around: Guests may ride the resort's boat to St. Thomas and then take the resort's taxis from St. Thomas Crown Bay Marina into Charlotte Amalie for shopping and dining (surcharges for boat and taxi service). They may arrange pick-ups by the resort's taxis back to the marina for the return boat trip to the resort. Taxis are stationed at The Westin St. John Resort and Villas.
Public ferries operate between Cruz Bay on St. John and Red Hook on St. Thomas' East End. Public ferries also operate between Red Hook and Charlotte Amalie. From the resort's dock, independent operators offer boat trips to Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands.
Upon arrival guests should meet resort representatives in the Westin Airport Lounge to be checked in for transportation.

Activities
A 1,200-foot beach of light-colored sand borders Great Cruz Bay. Lounge chairs and umbrellas provide comfort and shade. Pyramid-shaped "iceberg" slides (climb up one side, slide down the other), trampoline rafts, and swimming rafts are anchored off the beach.
The main pool complex adjacent to the beach includes an irregularly shaped pool measuring approximately 125 feet on each side. The pool contains a separate children's section, volleyball net, waterfall, and little garden islands. The complex also includes two spa tubs. Cushioned teak lounge chairs and umbrellas surround the pool.
Terraced into the hillside villa section are two 23-foot-long, irregularly shaped pools with gentle waterfalls. These pools' decks are furnished with cushioned teak lounge chairs, teak umbrella tables, and complimentary gas barbecue grills.
The Westin St. John supplies complimentary kayaks, water tricycles and bicycles, pedal boats, and small sailboats. A water-sports center rents snorkeling gear and outboard-powered inflatable dinghies and offers parasailing outside Great Cruz Bay and guided personal-watercraft tours (surcharges for both). An independent dive center offers scuba lessons/certification; reef, wreck, and ledge dives; sail/snorkel excursions to nearby islands; sunset sails; fishing; and yacht trips around the islands.
Use of six lighted tennis courts is complimentary. A 2.5-mile jogging course wends through the resort's grounds. Hiking trails as well as Trunk Bay's underwater snorkeling trail are located in the Virgin Islands National Park, which covers two-thirds of St. John. (The park's Visitors Center is 1.5 miles away in the town of Cruz Bay.)
The resort's complimentary fitness center includes a room for complimentary aerobics, Pilates, and yoga classes.
