Insider tip: Tempe Diablo Stadium, at the base of the butte, is the spring training home of the Anaheim Angels, and part of Arizona's "Cactus League" circuit. The Angels train in February and March.

Getting there: The hotel can arrange Town Car service for $16–$25 per car. Otherwise, SuperShuttle drops off at the hotel for $5–$15 per person, taxi fare is $16–$25, and rental cars start in the $26–$35 range. Unscheduled limousines are $16–$25 up to two passengers, $7 for each additional person. Rental cars are available online.

Getting around: Valley Metro buses stop along 48th St (fares less than $5; fees subject to change without notice) and go north to the nearest large mill, Arizona Mills Mall, but most guests use the Town Car service, taxis, or rental cars to get around. Driving in the greater Phoenix area provides convenience in reaching far-flung attractions and is relatively easy due to an extensive and well-marked freeway system. In downtown Phoenix, visitors and residents alike park for the day, then hop aboard the free DASH buses that loop the Copper Square area from Fifth St to 19 Ave near the State Capitol.
