Hotel Information: Just two miles from Magic Kingdom® Park, towering pines and lush Florida vegetation create a spectacular wilderness experience within the Walt Disney World® Resort. A warm “how-dee-doo” welcome greets arriving guests at the rustic Reception Outpost with its stone fireplace, wood-beamed ceiling, and tree-carved rocking chairs. Horseback riders can be seen passing by on the campground trails.

Amenity highlights: Located on Bay Lake, Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground includes its own white-sand beach and marina with boat rentals. Young guests can visit the children’s petting farm while teens and adults ride horses at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch. Campground fun also includes fishing, swimming in two pools, playing on tennis and volleyball courts, and jogging on miles of trails. In addition, the resort offers bike rentals, a game arcade, the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue dinner show, and Chip ’n Dale character breakfast at Pioneer Hall.

Insider tip: Guests can join the fun of Disney movies and lots of laughs each night as Chip ’n Dale host campfire sing-a-longs at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground (complimentary for resort guests). Dress is pajama-casual. In cases of rain, “Porch Jam” sing-a-longs take place at the Meadow Swimmin’ Hole.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is nestled amid towering pine trees and native vegetation within the Walt Disney World® Resort, just two miles from Magic Kingdom® Park. Guests check in at the rustic Reception Outpost, which has a stone fireplace, wood-beamed ceiling, and rocking chairs. The large resort borders Bay Lake, and log cabins and paved campsites are situated throughout the woods, connected via a series of roads. The property is extensive enough that it offers its own on-site transportation system: along with bicycles, guests can rent motorized golf cart–like vehicles to get around the grounds.

In addition, complimentary transportation (via motorcoach and water launch) zips guests throughout the campgrounds and to all Walt Disney World® Theme Parks, water parks, and the Downtown Disney® area. Campsites are available with full (electric, water, and sewage) or partial hookups (electric and water). Air-conditioned comfort stations with restrooms and private showers are located near all campsites. There are also laundry facilities on site.

The resort offers lots of recreational activities. A white-sand beach on Bay Lake isn’t far from the marina with boat rentals. Over at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch, a blacksmith prepares horses for the daily trail rides while kids enjoy the petting farm. Pony, hay wagon, and carriage rides are available. And located throughout the resort are fishing spots, tennis courts, jogging trails, two pools, a game arcade, and volleyball, shuffleboard, and tetherball courts. Several dining options include musical shows and meals with Disney Characters. Poolside dining is available in season, and a country store with camp-related groceries is on site.

Disney’s Magical Express: Guests of this resort are eligible for complimentary Disney’s Magical Express service. Motorcoaches pick up guests at Orlando International Airport and drop off at Walt Disney World® Resort Hotels, while Disney staff members pick up bags and deliver them straight to guestrooms.

Room Descriptions

This Lake Buena Vista resort includes 408 one-bedroom cabins and more than 784 campsites. Log cabins are set among towering pines and sleep up to six people each. All have wood-paneled walls, wood-beamed ceilings, gingham-style curtains, and outdoor decks with barbecue grills. Each cabin has one double bed and a set of bunk beds in the bedroom, and one Murphy bed in the living area. The living areas include TV/VCRs, dining room tables and chairs, and full kitchens with stoves, microwaves, refrigerators, coffeemakers, sinks, and dishes. Bathrooms have shower/tub combos and hair dryers. Daily housekeeping service is provided.

The campsites are blacktop and some can accommodate RVs of 10 x 60 feet plus one or two small tents. Preferred Campsite Full Hook-Ups include cable TV access. Some campsites are partial hook-up sites for tents, pop-up campers, or van campers only. Tents and carts are both available for rent.

All guestrooms (including room patios and balconies) are nonsmoking.

Taxis are more than $36 one way per trip. Fee is based on mileage, not number of passengers. All prices are subject to change. Car rentals are another transportation option, and are available online.

Transportation at Walt Disney World® Resort is easy with regularly scheduled complimentary transportation to all theme parks, water parks, and the Downtown Disney® Area. Guests can take complimentary motorcoach transportation from the resort and campground to all areas of Walt Disney World Resort. Travelers who wish to avoid driving altogether should take a taxi or shuttle from the airport to the hotel, then use the complimentary transportation provided around the resort. Guests who wish to visit downtown Orlando or other points in the Orlando area will want to rent a car.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is the only resort on the property that provides rentals of electric carts (similar to golf carts) for transportation around its extensive grounds.

Activities

Located on Bay Lake, the resort includes its own sandy white beach and marina with boat rentals. Over at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch, a blacksmith prepares horses for the daily trail rides, while kids enjoy the petting farm. Guests can also take pony, hay-wagon, and carriage rides. Located throughout the resort are tennis courts, bike rentals, and volleyball, shuffleboard, basketball, and tetherball courts. There are also two heated pools and two game arcades on the property. A two-to-three mile jogging path runs through the campground. Chartered fishing excursions are available on Bay Lake.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and 36-hole Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course are both within seven miles of the resort via complimentary transportation. The resort’s guest services can assist with reservations at any one of Disney’s five tour-caliber golf courses, all located on Walt Disney World® Resort property. A nine-hole walking course is also available.

Mickey’s Backyard BBQ - This is a down-home backyard barbeque dinner and show with Disney Characters at the River Country Pavilion, featuring baked chicken, barbeque ribs, hot dogs, and more. Offered seasonally; reservations required.

Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue - The revue combines “all-you-can-eat” country dining and foot-stompin’ entertainment every night at Pioneer Hall. Reservations required.

Trail’s End Restaurant - Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served buffet-style at this restaurant next to Pioneer Hall. Take-out pizza is also available from late afternoon on.

Crockett’s Tavern - The tavern serves cocktails, specialty drinks, and light appetizers and pizzas. Open from late afternoon to after dinner every day.

The Chuck Wagon - Hot dogs, popcorn, snacks, and refreshments are offered here during the Campfire Program each evening.

Meadow Snack Bar - Poolside refreshments are offered at this seasonal snack bar, weather permitting.

Important Information

Tents and cots are available for rent to use at campsites. Cots are $5 per night and tents are $30 per night plus tax (prices subject to change). Tents are 10 feet x 11 feet and sleep four adults or six children. Tents will be set up by Disney cast members.
Select campsites are open to pets at an additional charge and must be reserved in advance (subject to availability). There is also a kennel on site.
