Hotel Information: Designed by Henry Hohauser and built in 1938, the landmark Essex House Hotel enjoys a corner location, at Collins and 10th, in the Art Deco Historic District. An intimate lobby showcases Art Deco-style furniture. A large outdoor verandah with seating areas is perfect for socializing and people-watching. Guests and visitors must be over 21 years of age to stay at the hotel, making it popular with couples.

Getting there: Taxis ($26–$35) are the fastest way to get to the hotel. Shuttle vans are $16–$25. Rental cars are available online.
Getting around: Taxis and walking are the easiest and most convenient ways to get around, as parking is extremely limited and expensive. Many clubs and shops are within easy walking distance. For travel outside the beach area, a car is recommended and can be booked online.

Activities
An outdoor pool is in a courtyard surrounded by lush foliage. Use of beach and pool towels is complimentary. Beach chairs are available for a refundable deposit.
The white-sand beaches of the Atlantic Ocean are a short two-block stroll. Shops along the beach can outfit beach-goers with personal watercraft, volleyballs, snorkeling gear, and other water-sports equipment. Flamingo Park, five blocks away on the beach, has tennis and basketball courts. The Miami Beach Golf Club is two miles away.
