Hotel Information: Casual and family-oriented, the moderately priced Allegro Playacar provides guests endless opportunities to have fun—and equal opportunities to be alone with the sun and the water.
Amenity highlights: Two pools offer sunning and swimming options. Nearest the beach is a large pool and sundeck—surrounded by thatch-roof palapas for shade—that serves as the water-activities center. Farther away from the beach is a figure 8-shaped "relaxation pool," where noise is minimal. The long, white-sand beach is ideal for strolling and people-watching.

The Allegro's numerous two-story villas house a total of 286 rooms. Lush gardens surround the villas, and all public spaces such as restaurants and bars, have thatched roofs. Within the resort are a beauty salon which offers massages, and an activities desk which arranges eco-adventure park tours and other excursions. Resort activities run day and night, including shows in the open-air theater. Children have their own pool—shaped like Mickey Mouse—along with playground equipment and special activities. Like all major Riviera Maya hotels, the resort is equipped with a water-purification system.

With cream-colored walls, white ceilings, light-colored furniture, and Mayan paintings, rooms have Yucatan ambience. Bathrooms include tub/shower combinations and marble vanities. Driving directions from Cancún International Airport: Take the only road leaving the airport and then take Hwy 307 south. Go through Playa del Carmen and take the second entrance into Playacar. Continue straight for 1 km (0.5 mile). Turn right at the traffic circle (roundabout) and Allegro Playacar All Inclusive is the 4th resort on the left.
Getting there: Authorized taxis, buses, and rental cars are the most convenient ways to reach the hotel. Transportation options and ticket booths are found after exiting the terminal. Authorized group taxi fare to the hotel is $36+ USD. A direct bus line to Playa del Carmen is $5–15 USD and a taxi from the town to the resort is less than $5 USD. Rental cars are available online. Guests of the Allegro Playacar can enjoy days packed with activity because the multilingual resort staff keeps things humming with a wide array of games, contests, and water and land sports including kayaking, sailing, boogie boarding, and volleyball. Four soft-surface tennis courts allow for either day or night play. Guests can also use resort bicycles to tour around the Playacar and Playa del Carmen area (regulations apply).
The concierge desk can arrange tours to regional historic and tourist sites such as Tulum and Xel-Há, as well as fishing trips and scuba diving excursions, and golf games at area courses including the 18-hole Playacar Club de Golf (surcharges for all.)

The Buffet - This restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets and offers a coffee station all day. Weather permitting, a dinner buffet is also served outside, either by the pool or in front of the theater.
