The Barcelo Premium Karmina Palace offers 324 guest suites in a seven-story building inspired by Mayan architecture and design. Suites feature garden- or ocean-view balconies or ground-floor patios. A three-level complex consisting of eight, heated, interconnected pools includes a 64-meter-long (210-ft), freeform lower section with a serpentine, 30.5-meter (100-ft) water slide dropping down from a pyramidal, Mayan-style "temple." On the upper level, a secluded, 7.75-meter-diameter (25-ft) adults-only pool includes waterspouts.

Padded lounge chairs surround pools and are also available at a 129.5-meter (425-ft), private, calm-water beach on a 152-meter-diameter-diameter (500-ft), nearly circular swimming cove as well on sunning terraces above the beach. One terrace features curtained cabanas for shade and privacy.

This all-inclusive Mexican resort supplies snorkeling gear, kayaks, and boogie boards and offers kayaking and bicycling tours. For surcharges, snorkeling tours, scuba-diving instruction and excursions, banana boating, water skiing, kneeboarding, and personal watercraft are available from independent operators at the resort.
