Hotel Information: A celebrity destination when the 54 original cliff-front rooms opened in 1971, the Hotel Finisterra maintains tradition, as families and couples return annually to renew acquaintances. The original buildings rest on elaborate stone foundations surrounded by boulders. A contemporary beachfront tower complements the look with a rough cement exterior. Waterfalls drop down a rock cliff between the two sections and an aerial walkway connects the two sections.
Insider tip: A few steps up from the cliff-top Whale Watcher Bar, a small, shaded area containing two tables and thickly cushioned chairs offers a semi-private spot for secluded lunching and stargazing over a cocktail or espresso.
Property Amenities
This Cabo San Lucas hotel features a small fitness center with a sauna; the fitness center also contains a Universal gym and a cardio machine, as well as a room for massage and nail care. Complimentary supervised children's activities are offered near one of the pools Tuesday–Sunday. Room Descriptions
Hotel Finisterra offers 286 guestrooms in two sections. The Finisterra Section is the resort’s original building from 1971, and consists of low-rise buildings (without elevators) built into a rock cliff. The 4–9-story Palapa Beach Club tower has a contemporary design and is closer to the beach. Waterfalls cascade over the rock cliff between the two sections. Driving directions from Los Cabos International Airport: Exit airport and turn right onto the Transpeninsular Highway (Hwy 1) through San José del Cabo. Continue on Av Lázaro Cárdenas and then turn left onto Blvd Marina to Hotel Finisterra.
Getting there: Shuttle vans and private cars of varying prices are available. They can be reserved during the process of booking a reservation for this resort, via this Web site, and added to the total trip cost.
Getting around: Taxis are available at the resort. Public buses operate through Cabo San Lucas and to San José del Cabo.
Activities
Three freeform pool complexes are arrayed on terraces to the beach. The lower-level complex comprises a 53.25-meter-long (175-ft) pool containing a shallow children's area and four eight-person spa tubs. The mid-level complex consists of a 35-meter-long (115-ft) pool with swim-up bar and two four-person spa tubs. The upper-level complex comprises an unheated, 38-meter-long (125-ft) pool and a four-person spa tub.

The Blue Marlin - Air-conditioned restaurant located atop cliff in resort's original section featuring stained-glass window panels, glass ceiling sculptures, mounted 1,200-pound Blue Marlin. Rock waterfall outside. Buffet and à la carte breakfasts. Dinner menu with choices such as steaks, lamb shanks, roasted duck with Grand Marnier sauce, shrimp with garlic-tequila sauce, grilled salmon with ginger-honey glaze.
