Hotel Information: Small and intimate, this resort caters especially to families. With a staff-to-guest ratio of 1:1, a vacation nanny service, four restaurants, and a multitude of activities, the resort predominantly attracts parents of young children and infants, and, sometimes, teenage siblings.
Amenity highlights: Franklyn D. Resort & Spa - All Inclusive features two small crescent beaches fronting calm-water swimming coves. Snorkeling opportunities lie within and just outside the coves. Pools include a 23-meter-long (75-foot-long) freeform pool and an activities pool with a 30-meter (100-foot) spiral water slide. Toddlers enjoy two shallow pools, one with a 1.2-meter (four-foot) water slide. A rocky point between the swimming coves features an adults-only six-person spa tub and a sundeck. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available throughout the resort's public areas.

Each family is assigned a "vacation nanny" to look after children between 9 AM – 4:40 PM daily (with a one-hour lunch) and to keep guest suites clean. Child care after 4:40 PM is available (hourly surcharges) and additional nannies can also be hired during the day (surcharges).
A large, supervised, air-conditioned children's center open daily from 7 AM – 10 PM is stocked with toys, learning aids, video movies, and video games. Three outdoor playgrounds are adjacent to the children's center. A children's heely track, and a waterplay area for infants and toddlers are also available. Teenagers have their own supervised clubhouse.
Adult indulgences include exclusive access to a six-person spa tub isolated on a rocky point between two swimming coves, ocean-front massage at the SeaGrape Spa with European and Asian treatments in private rooms on another rocky point, a main bar and piano lounge featuring singalong and karaoke, a sports bar, and an à la carte dinner restaurant. Two balustraded finger piers with little wood gazebos on the ends are favorite spots for observing sunsets, ocean gazing, and stargazing.
The air-conditioned SeaGrape Spa offers massage, reflexology, body scrubs, facials, hair braiding, and hair and nail care (surcharges). A fitness room contains cardio machines, a Universal gym, and free weights. A nurse's station is open during the day, with a doctor on call around the clock. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available throughout the resort, and Internet access in the cyber café is also complimentary. A gift shop sells resortwear, beachwear, liquor, and sundries and rents out VCRs and videos. A duty-free shop offers jewelry, watches, and Cuban cigars. Another shop sells Jamaican arts and crafts.

The resort offers 76 guest suites in eight three- and four-story buildings (no elevators). Balconies or terraces are furnished with Adirondack chairs. Living rooms have ceiling fans and louvered windows and doors, and bedrooms are air conditioned. Living rooms also include couches or day beds, dining sets, breakfast bars, televisions, and refrigerators stocked with soft drinks and cheese. High-speed Internet access is complimentary.
Bathrooms sinks have booster steps for children, and televisions with U.S. cable channels include cartoon channels. The resort's gift shop rents VCRs and videos.

Getting there: The resort provides complimentary airport transfers. Airport greeters direct arriving guests to the resort desk outside the baggage claim area, where clerks arrange van transport to the resort. Taxis (more than US$36) are also available. Prices are subject to change. Although rental cars are available online, few visitors to Jamaica rent cars unless they are comfortable driving British-style (on the left).

Activities

The resort's 183-meter (200-yard) oceanfront features two small crescent beaches fronting calm-water swimming coves protected by rocky points. Hammocks beneath shade trees at the main beach's rear provide adults vantage points to watch children. Snorkeling opportunities around coral heads lie within and just outside the coves.
A 23-meter-long (75-foot-long) freeform pool is surrounded by a sundeck furnished with padded lounge chairs. A spiral water slide plunges children into another pool. Toddlers enjoy two shallow pools, one with a water slide. An adults-only six-person spa tub and a wood sunning deck is tucked away at a rocky point between the swimming coves.
Daily snorkeling trips, glass-bottom-boat rides, and use of small sailboats, windsurfers, snorkeling gear, and a lighted tennis court and racquets are included.
Beginners' scuba-diving classes for adults/teens and children age 8-9 and, for noncertified divers, one dive per person per stay are included. Certified divers can take one dive per day (Mondays through Saturdays). (Additional dives are offered for surcharges.) Certification courses and night dives are offered by the resort's dive center (surcharges).

Verandah Restaurant - Open-air restaurant with ocean-view terrace seating adjacent to open-air stage where entertainment is presented nightly. Breakfast buffet daily. Lunch buffet or à la carte menu daily. Dinner buffet or à la carte menu daily. Beach barbecue on Wednesday nights, Jamaican buffet on Saturday nights.
The Pier Restaurant - Adults-only, candle-lit, open-air restaurant in wood pavilion isolated on finger pier at one end of resort. À la carte Italian menu with antipasti bar. Closed Wednesdays, Saturdays.
Overproof Restaurant - Adults-only, Jamaican-style restaurant. Features oxtail, curried mutton and chicken, and escoveitched or steamed fish. Closed Wednesdays, Saturdays.
Beach Side Grill - Open-air spot open daily from late morning to early evening for burgers, hot dogs, jerk chicken and pork, french fries, ice cream, popcorn. Early-evening children's buffet dinner nightly with fare such as grilled-cheese sandwiches, burgers, and pasta.
Main Bar - Open-air poolside spot serving tropical drinks, cocktails, beer daily from late morning to late night.
