Hotel Information: This 22-acre Beaches Boscobel Resort and Golf Club All Inclusive attracts families, couples, and singles seeking activity-filled holidays. The steep site offers numerous vantage points for viewing the ocean, with gently sloped ramps offering alternatives to stairs.

Amenity highlights: The beach extends nearly 91.5 meters (100 yards) wide and 36.5 meters (40 yards) deep, with a trampoline raft just off shore. (A four-story, self-serve elevator connects the beach to the resort's upper levels.) A 55-by-15-meter (180-by-50-foot) pool includes a swim-up bar and waterfall. A 21-meter (70-foot) freeform pool features a 7.6-meter (25-foot) water slide and a 23-meter (75-foot) spiral water slide. A 27,000-square-foot water park is on site. Two bars and a disco open nightly are restricted to adults. One bar is set above the ocean on an isolated pier and features rum drinks. The other is an air-conditioned piano lounge with overstuffed seating and an ocean-view terrace that offers singalong and karaoke.

Infants can be left in the care of certified nannies, while older children 4–7 and 8–12 can enjoy supervised group activities often based on the beach or in air-conditioned clubhouses. Teens enjoy their own recreation/meeting center. An air-conditioned Xbox Game Oasis provides video games and is open to all ages.

A full-service spa featuring couples' rooms and sauna and steam rooms offers massage, reflexology, body wraps and scrubs, facials, waxing, hair braiding, paraffin treatments, and hair and nail care (surcharges). A fitness center contains cardio and weight machines as well as free weights and offers aerobics and yoga classes. Guests can head to a rooftop sanctuary for spa treatments or dinner by candlelight.

Day-and-night family activities include dance contests, staff/guest talent shows, live bands, beach olympics, Pictionary and other board games, and clown/magic shows. Complimentary golf for the whole family is offered at the nearby Sandals Golf & Country Club. Also, kids can meet their favorite characters at the Caribbean Adventure with Sesame Street®.

Beaches Boscobel Resort and Golf Club All Inclusive offers 224 guestrooms and suites in two five-story buildings and one three-story building--all painted pastel colors. There are no elevators in one of the five-story buildings, but other elevators on the steeply terraced property ensure guests have to climb a maximum of three flights of stairs to reach rooms or suites. Ceiling fans provide cooling alternatives to room air conditioning. Radios and televisions offering U.S. channels supply entertainment. Decor features pastel walls, tile floors, bright floral fabrics, and mahogany-stained furniture.

Driving directions from Montego Bay Sangster International Airport: From the airport take Hwy A1 east, towards Ocho Rios. Continue past Ocho Rios approximately 16 km (10 mi). The resort is on the left.

Getting there: The resort provides complimentary airport transfers. Airport greeters direct arriving guests to the Beaches desk outside the baggage claim area, where clerks arrange van transport to the resort. Taxis ($36+ USD) are also available (prices subject to change).

Shuttle vans or private cars of varying prices are available. They can be selected during the process of booking an air-inclusive reservation for this hotel, via this Web site, and added to the total trip cost. Few visitors to Jamaica rent cars unless they are comfortable driving British-style (on the left).

Getting around: The resort provides complimentary roundtrip transportation to Sandals Golf and Country Club 12 km (7.5 miles) away, with greens fees (but not mandatory caddy) part of the resort's All-Inclusive Plan. Taxis are available at the resort.

Activities

Nearly 92 meters (100 yards) wide and 36.5 meters (40 yards) deep and featuring a large trampoline raft just off shore, the resort's beach includes thatched shades and lounge chairs. A four-story self-serve elevator connects the beach to the resort's upper levels. A main pool features a swim-up bar and a tiered tile waterfall on one end. A second, freeform pool features two water slides, one straight and the other a spiral. Two spa tubs can accommodate up to 12.

After a $3 million expansion in September 2007 to the resort’s existing water playground, the newly-expanded, 27,000-square-foot Pirate’s Island Water Park features nine new slides and water features for the entire family. There are six new children’s slides and a Treasure Isle play area, complete with water cannons and a treasure chest. For the resort’s youngest guests, a kid’s zone and zero-entry children’s pool complete with a misting crab, a squirting sea turtle, and a splashing seahorse are available. The Water Park also features a tube slide, a body slide, and a speed slide. A water crawl play structure, complete with sea creature-themed stepping-stones made from soft-play resilient foam is on site.

Use of equipment including kayaks, sailboats, windsurfers, and snorkeling gear, is complimentary, as are glass-bottom-boat trips and banana-boat rides. Scuba diving equipment and trips for those age 10 and older are also covered by the All-Inclusive Plan, but certification courses, including at the beginner's resort level, are not. Beginners with resort-course instruction are permitted to go on one diving trip per day. Divers with certification credentials are permitted two trips daily.

Land sports include four tennis courts (two lighted), a lighted basketball court, shuffleboard, outdoor chess, and a recreation area featuring a mini soccer field, jogging trail, and fishing pond.

Roundtrip transportation and greens fees for Sandals Golf and Country Club 12 km (7.5 miles) away are part of the All- Inclusive Plan, but mandatory caddies as well as rental carts and clubs are not included.
