Hotel Information: Encompassing 1,350 acres, this self-contained resort comprises hotel rooms and privately owned condo-style villas. Guests can rent bikes and motorized golf carts to get around the vast grounds, or take the resort’s tram service. The wide range of activities and scheduled events keep all ages entertained. This family-friendly resort offers children’s menus in all restaurants.

Getting there: Upon 24 hours advance notice, the hotel can arrange for its van to pick up guests from the airport ($80 round-trip).

Getting around: Rental bikes and motorized golf carts are available for getting around the island. The resort offers a complimentary scheduled tram around the grounds from early morning to late evening, or upon demand (based on availability). Resort shuttles ($10) also provide transport to downtown Fernandina Beach (based on availability). Rental cars are available online.

Activities

Amelia Links, composed of the Oak Marsh and Ocean Links courses designed by Pete Dye and Bobby Weed, offer 36 holes of championship golf. Tom Fazio-designed Long Point, and the Amelia River Course designed by Tom Jackson, provide an additional options. Three clubhouses, pro shops, and a golf school are available on the property.

Surrounded by live oaks, renowned Racquet Park offers 23 courts, a pro shop, adult clinics, round robins, and junior clinics on request (surcharges for all).

Staffed by naturalists, the Nature Center features interpretive displays and a range of naturalist-led activities including bird watching, Segway safaris, walking, biking, and kayaking guided tours (surcharges). Guests can rent bikes or hike seven miles of nature trails.

Boogie boards, beach chairs, and cabanas all can be rented. Facing the beach is a two-level outdoor pool, with lifeguards on duty during summer months. Swimming lessons are available (surcharge). Spanning the property are 20 pools, one at each villa complex.

Fresh- and saltwater fishing excursions, sailing, sightseeing tours, and day cruises (surcharges) can be arranged at the Beach Club. Anglers can also try their luck at the resort’s Red Maple Lake and the many brackish lagoons (surcharges).

Guests have complimentary use of a well-equipped health club. Separate women’s and men’s locker rooms provide saunas, steam rooms, spa tubs, showers, and towels. Yoga, Pilates, and aerobics classes (surcharges) are offered in the Spa or fitness center at Amelia Plantation.

Guests of all ages can sign up for a wide range of activities at the Recreation Department (surcharges). A kids camp provides entertainment for ages 3–10, while a teens club caters to ages 11–19 (surcharges).
