Hotel Information: The casual Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach hotel draws vacationing families, celebrating couples, young singles, and some older guests who’ve been returning for years. The large, busy lobby is decorated with Hawaiian art, including a full-sized, century-old, koa-wood outrigger canoe, and royal standards made of feathers. Pacific crafts, toys, beachwear, and sundries are sold in shops on site, and the hotel has several beachfront restaurants.

This Waikiki beachfront hotel invites couples to Hoi Hou Ke Aloha, a ceremony to renew their wedding vows. This complimentary ceremony is held every Tuesday and Friday morning at 8 AM (schedule subject to change), on Waikiki Beach in front of the Outrigger Waikiki's partner hotel, the Outrigger Reef.
Guests also can enjoy surfing lessons, outrigger canoe rides, catamaran cruises, and beachside massage under a thatched roof (surcharges). Guests with their own surfboards can ask for available space on the hotel’s beachside rack (surcharge).
Weekly lobby activities include lei-making, and Hawaiian craft and music workshops. Lobby boutiques offer Pacific crafts, toys, beachwear, fresh fruit, and sundries. A Las Vegas-style musical production by the Society of Seven performs nightly except Monday.

- Exit the airport toward Waikiki/Honolulu.
- Go up the ramp and stay to the right, heading east toward Waikiki/Honolulu for one mile.
- Get on the H1 Fwy heading east.
- Stay in the right lane and follow the signs toward Waikiki/Nimitz Hwy.
- Follow Nimitz Hwy for about six and a half miles.
- Stay in the right lane as Nimitz Hwy/Ala Moana Blvd veers to the right and becomes Kalakaua Ave.
- Continue on Kalakaua Ave, hotel is on the right.
Getting there: Shuttles and taxis are available right outside baggage claim. Shuttles cost $5–$15 per person, taxis $26–$35. Rental cars are another option and are available online.
Getting around: Walking is the best way to get around Waikiki. Public transportation around Honolulu and the island is also easy, with bus stops everywhere. Single bus fare anywhere is less than $5, and a four-day visitor’s pass is available for $16–$25. Taxis are readily available (phone rather than trying to hail one), and are a good choice for short trips. For excursions to various points around the island, a rental car is the best bet.

Flight check-in and baggage service: Hawaiian Airlines is teaming with Outrigger and Ohana hotels to provide flight check-in and luggage drop-off in Waikiki. The remote check-in service is available from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM daily at the Outrigger Waikiki, the Outrigger Reef, the Ohana East, and the Ohana Maile Sky Court. Fee for baggage handling is $5 per bag and $15 per family (up to four passengers in one itinerary; fees subject to change without prior notification). Travelers wishing to check in for flights and solely print boarding passes can do so for free. The baggage-handling fee covers delivery of bags to the airport and ensuring baggage is presented for agricultural and security inspections; travelers retrieve their bags when they get to their final destination.
Activities
From the beach, hotel guests can enjoy swimming and body surfing in the small shorebreak, as well as surfing lessons, outrigger canoe rides, and catamaran cruises (surcharges). Beachside massage is also available (surcharge).
A small fitness room with an underwater view of the 1,300-square-foot pool has treadmills, a step machine, and weight machines, as well as mats for stretching.

Hula Grill – Right above Duke’s, this casual ocean-view restaurant serves breakfast and dinner made with fresh ingredients in interesting combinations. Its bar, open from late afternoon, is a quieter alternative to Duke’s.
Chuck’s Steakhouse – This beachfront restaurant offers steak and seafood dinners and salad bar.
Frank Pai Deli - Located at street level, the deli serves healthy sandwiches, salads, fresh fruit, and smoothies all day.
Outrigger Snack Shop – Located at the hotel pool right by the beach, this little place serves a hot dog made from hamburger; plus smoothies, soft ice cream, and shaved ice. Open all day.
Seattle’s Best Coffee - Located at street level, this coffee bar serves espresso drinks, coffee, tea, and sweets from early morning all through the evening.
