Honolulu International Airport (HNL): Approximate driving time to the OHANA East Waikiki is 35 minutes and distance is 12 miles.
- Exit the airport toward Waikiki/Honolulu.
- Go up the ramp and stay to the right, heading east toward Waikiki/Honolulu for one mile.
- Get on the H1 Fwy heading east. Stay in the right lane and follow the signs toward Waikiki/Nimitz Hwy.
- Follow Nimitz Hwy for about 6.5 miles and stay in the right lane as Nimitz Hwy/Ala Moana Blvd veers to the right and becomes Kalakaua Ave.
- Continue on Kalakaua Ave and turn left onto Kaiulani Ave.
- The Hawaii hotel is on the left at the intersection with Kuhio Ave, and the parking entrance is on Kuhio Ave.
Getting there: Shuttles operate between the airport and Waikiki, costing $9–$20. Shuttle reservations are recommended for arrival; when returning to the airport, shuttle reservations are essential. Taxis are widely available and cost $35–$40 for travel to Waikiki. Rental cars are available online.
Getting around: Around Waikiki, shows, shops, activities, beaches, and restaurants are generally within walking distance. Guests receive complimentary rides on Waikiki Trolley’s Pink Line throughout Waikiki and to the Ala Moana Shopping Center. Oahu’s bus system offers connections around the island. The bus stops on Kuhio Avenue. Most visitors with plans to venture away from Waikiki prefer rental cars.
Flight check-in and baggage service: Hawaiian Airlines is teaming with Outrigger and Ohana hotels to provide flight check-in and luggage drop-off in Waikiki. The remote check-in service is available from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM daily (subject to change) at the Outrigger Waikiki, the Outrigger Reef, the Ohana East, and the Ohana Maile Sky Court. Fee for baggage handling is $5 per bag and $15 per family (up to four passengers in one itinerary; fees subject to change without prior notification). Travelers wishing to check in for flights and print boarding passes can do so for free. The baggage-handling fee covers delivery of bags to the airport and ensuring baggage is presented for agricultural and security inspections; travelers retrieve their bags when they get to their final destination.

Activities
On the second floor of OHANA East—surrounded by a sheltered, tiled, and spacious courtyard sundeck—lies a large swimming pool with a built-in spa tub and a tiled hibiscus mosaic on its bottom. Guests have access to a fitness room with weight machines and cardio equipment.
Beginning two blocks from the hotel, the stretch of Waikiki Beach with a breakwater—Kuhio Beach—creates calm, pool-like swimming conditions. Waikiki Beach offers snorkeling and all other sand and surf activities. The hotel is a 15-minute walk from Kapiolani Park, with its tennis courts, jogging paths, the Honolulu Zoo, and the Waikiki Aquarium. A public golf course is less than a half-mile away.
