Hotel Information: ResortQuest Kona By The Sea is set amid rocky shoreline, two miles from the center of Kailua-Kona. Unlike most condominium resorts on this stretch of the Kona Coast, Kona by the Sea has a sandy area—roughly 70 yards wide and 15 yards deep—set between the ocean and the resort’s fresh-water pool. The resort primarily draws vacationing travelers.
Amenity highlights: Spa Hina offers yoga classes, seaside massage, therapies, and personal training. Also, an oceanfront fresh-water pool is on site. A surrounding sundeck provides a spa tub, lounge chairs, dining tables, umbrellas, and three gas barbecue grills built into a tile counter.

Opened in December 2005, the on-site Spa Hina (open Monday–Saturday) offers yoga classes, seaside or lanai massage, essential-oil treatments, cranial-sacral therapy, and personal training. Body scrubs, organic wraps, water aerobics, and Pilates are expected by mid-January, 2006. The following are due to open in March 2006: Esthetician room for manicures, pedicures, facials, and waxing services; vibrational treatment room; training center equipped with physio balls, bands, cable-pulley systems, free weights, and benches; health food bar.

ResortQuest Kona By The Sea offers 86 units in two five-story wings. All accommodations have lanais facing the ocean. Each one- and two-bedroom unit features a kitchen, two bathrooms, a washer/dryer, and VCR. Other amenities include air conditioning and ceiling fans. Tropical-style decor incorporates richly colored floral prints offset by white furniture. High-speed Internet access is available for a surcharge. Nightly turndown service is included.
Smoking is not permitted inside hotel rooms.
The hotel provides two complimentary bottled waters upon arrival.

Driving directions from Keahole-Kona International: From the airport, turn right onto State Hwy 19 (Queen Kaahumanu Hwy) south. Turn right onto Palani Rd and continue on Alii Dr. The hotel is on the right.
Getting there: A rental car is the best option from the airport, especially since most guests will want a car anyway for sightseeing. Taxis are also available ($16–25). All fees subject to change without notice.
Getting around: There are restaurants, shops, and activities in Kailua Kona, within a short walk or taxi ride of the hotel. For most of the attractions on the Big Island, however, a rental car is essential.
